OpTic took the first match of the second round of the Swiss system in Sydney against ViCi, 16-8, on Train. The North American side is now 1-1, while the Chinese team is one loss away from elimination.
The match started with OpTic taking the CT side pistol, in part thanks to three swift kills by Tarik "tarik" Celik. The North American side then went on to win the two anti-ecos without giving a single plant or allowing ViCi to do much.
With a quick split on A from main and ladder room, ViCi took the first gun round after two quick opening frags to gain control of the site. ViCi then tried to repeat the same play, but OpTic were ready and corrected their mistakes from the previous round for a 4-1 lead.
The match quickly started to run away from ViCi, as William "RUSH" Wierzba, Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas and tarik ground out all opposition in the outer attacks, with help from James "hazed" Cobb down in ivy and Keith "NAF" Markovic rotating from the inner site, stopping the Chinese team’s aggression round and round again.

Finally, ViCi were able to get a couple more rounds before the half, for a 10-5 score at the switch. A ninja defuse by Zhuo "advent" Liang in the pistol round against hazed gave the Chinese team a lifeline to get back into the game in the second half.
With 10-7 on the board, OpTic made their way to B, where they planted and were able to win the round. The North American side then quickly ran away with the second half, giving up just one more round for a 16-8 final score.
